Green Recipes
Green is Cool and Hip and Perfectly WONDERFUL! Hats off to St Patrick's Day or ANY Day!
I love eating green things.. veggies mainly of course, unless you have seen a green cow walking around that gives off some green milk. Have you? No you say? Humm imagine that!
I love inventing and changing recipes to suit me so I am going o list of few of our green vegetable friends first and then lets see what we.. Wait WE? I mean "I" can do with them. My mother in law was watching me make cookies once and noticed I don't really measure all that much. I cook like I paint .. I am an artist... I do it by feeling. With vegetables it is pretty hard to mess up...unlike cookies, which did in fact turn out as they always do.. lol.
This is NOT going to be in alphabetical order, I am just going to list them off the top of my head according through my own personal numminess filter. Well wait.. yes on second thought it will be in alphabetical order but still according to numminess cause I adore veggies and II confess to LOVING the taste of green.
Saint Patrick's Day is gonna be grand!!
btw, one of the zillion reasons to eat green? As we all know it is very healthy!

St Patrick's Day Sayings, Toasts and Quotes on the FUN side
Irish Saying
There are many good reasons for drinking,
One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn't drink when he's living,
How in the hell can he drink when he's dead?
Irish Saying
An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can hold onto one blade of grass to keep from falling off the earth.
Charles M. Madigan
St. Patrick -- one of the few saints whose feast day presents the opportunity to get determinedly whacked and make a fool of oneself all under the guise of acting Irish.
St. Patrick's Day Toast
Here’s to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one
A pretty girl and an honest one
A cold beer – and another one!
Irish Toast
It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there's no money!
Irish Toast
May you die in bed at ninety-five years, shot by a jealous husband (or wife).
Irish Saying
There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they were.
QUOTES:
If you hold a four-leaf shamrock in your left hand at dawn on St. Patrick's Day you get what you want very much but haven't wished for. ~Patricia Lynch
With the frost he kindled fire;
Drove the snakes from brake and brier,
Hurling out the writhing brood
With the lightning of his rood.
~Edwin Markham
There's ne'er a mile in Ireland's Isle where the dirty vermin musters;
Where'er he put his dear forefoot he murdered them in clusters.
The toads went hop, the frogs went flop, slapdash into the water,
And the beasts committed suicide to save themselves from slaughter.
~Old Irish Song
When after the Winter alarmin',
The Spring steps in so charmin',
So fresh and arch
In the middle of March,
Wid her hand St. Patrick's arm on...
~Alfred Percival Graves
The list of Irish saints is past counting; but in it all no other figure is so human, friendly, and lovable as St. Patrick - who was an Irishman only by adoption. ~Stephen Gwynn
Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter

Care for some delicious pasta?
For all pasta I like to replace regular pasta with quinoa pasta.. much healthier! It tastes no different, you kids will never know. Yup you will probably have to go to a health food store for it.
Cook Time
Prep Time: 10
Total Time: 20
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
- 1 pound quinoa pasta
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup mushrooms sliced
- 1 cup zucchini sliced
- 1 cup snow peas
- 2 tablespoons good quality pesto (or make it yourself)
- Parmesan cheese
- 2 -3 tablespoons olive oil or butter
Instructions
- Cook pasta until al dente as you stir fry the rest of the ingredients in olive oil (better for you) or butter.. your choice but do use "real" butter. First stir fry the mushrooms and snow peas till ever so slightly limp, remove from heat, then stir fly the rest. Next toss all veggies together with the pesto. Lastly, toss all with the cooked pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- NOTE I altered this recipe but the original recipe can be found at: http://atouchofpaprika.blogspot.com/2011/05/grun-grun-grun-ist-alles-was-ich-hab.html
